| AUD hosts the First Engineering and Technology Fair |
| Event attended by more than 50 students from local and regional high school deemed a success |

The AUD School of Engineering, in collaboration with the Information Technology Department, organized the first AUD Engineering and Technology Fair. The event was attended by 60 high school students from around Dubai. Students competed with designs of gadgets such as a catapult, a vending machine, and a burglar alarm. In addition, on-site activties included competitions for the tallest paper tower, the best most effective protection mechanism, as well as other events. An outdoor lunch and an award ceremony followed the event.
This event is intended to promote engineering and technology among high school students, and will be organized on an annual basis by the AUD School of Engineering.
"The success of the event this year, as well as the level of interest and enthusiasm of the participants is encouraging." said Dr. Alaa Ashmamy, Dean of the School of Engineering. "We ecpect next year's event to draw a larger audience in our efforts to promote the fields of engineering and technology among high school students." Other activities, which were held during the day, included a robot demonstration, a duct tape strength competition, and a tour of the engineering labs and facilities. |
