22 April 2007 Bashar Al-Rawi, a senior in Computer Engineering, was named the 2007 recipient of the AUD President's Award for Student Excellence. This honor is bestowed every year upon one student who stands out in terms of all-around achievement, and Bashar is no exception. In announcing the award, AUD President Dr. Lance de Masi cited a long list of activities in which Bashar was involved, and noted Bashar's receipt of graduate scholarships and admission to graduate school at Stanford University, University of Michigan, and McGill University. Bashar is also the current president of the Engineering Student Association, and maintains the highest GPA in Computer Engineering.
