Location
Dubai of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is located on the southeast coast of the Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula and is one of the seven emirates that make up the country. It has the largest population in the UAE and the second largest land territory.

Today, Dubai has emerged as a cosmopolitan metropolis that has grown steadily to become a global city, business and cultural hub of the Middle East and the Gulf region. Although Dubai's economy was historically built on the oil industry, the emirate's business model drives its economy with the main revenues now coming from tourism, real estate, and financial services. Dubai has recently attracted world attention through many innovative 3D sub-surface and large construction projects. The city has become symbolic for its skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, such as the world's tallest skyscraper (Burj Khalifa), as well as its ambitious development projects including man-made islands. Dubai's emergence as a 3D technological and economical centre is what makes it an ideal venue for the 3D GeoInfo Conference and the 3D Cadastres Workshop.
