About DFIMEC 2016

The DFI Middle East Conference is the region's leading technical conference in the field of foundation engineering. The Third Edition of the conference aims to provide an opportunity for the region's geotechnical engineering practitioners & academicians to interface, exchange information & experience, and present the latest developments in the field of foundation design & construction. Co-sponsored by the Deep Foundations Institute & the American University in Dubai, this year's conference builds upon the success of DFIMEC 2012 & 2014 and promises to provide a top-quality forum.

Under the theme "Value Engineering in Geotechnical Practice: Application and Case Histories", DFIMEC 2016 provides a forum addressing the challenges and the latest advancements in the field. Middle East countries continue to develop challenging projects and this demands best practice in deep excavations, dewatering, foundations and shoring systems, ground improvement and other sophisticated foundation options. In many cases, the project sites are located in close vicinity of existing structures and public services, requiring careful considerations of interaction effects, geotechnical risk assessments and monitoring.

Deep Foundations Institute was incorporated in 1976 in the State of New Jersey as a non-profit association. DFI is an international association of contractors, engineers, suppliers, academics and owners in the deep foundations industry. Our multi-disciplinary membership creates a consensus voice and a common vision for continual improvement in the planning, design and construction of deep foundations and excavations. We bring together members through networking, education, communication and collaboration. With our members, we promote the advancement of the deep foundations industry through technical committees, educational programs and conferences, publication of guides and specifications, a peer-reviewed journal, a flagship magazine, research, government relations and outreach. DFI has more than 3,000 involved, knowledgeable and committed members worldwide.

School of Engineering, AUD

The School of Engineering at The American University in Dubai (AUD) is the official host of the  DFI Middle East Conference 2016. AUD is a private, non-sectarian institution of higher learning founded in 1995. The School of Engineering offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in multiple engineering disciplines, providing students with American-style engineering education at the heart of Dubai. The School of Engineering programs are among the first to be accredited by ABET outside the USA, the most well recognized engineering accreditor worldwide, and are UAE accredited as well.

Strategically situated in the west suburbs of Dubai, the AUD campus adjoins Media City, Internet City and Dubai Marina, and is located within a mile from the Palm Jumeirah, The World Islands, and Jebel Ali Free Zone.
