Toby Roberts has over 30 years' experience as an expert in the design and implementation of pumped groundwater control systems for large excavations, foundations and tunnels. He has extensive contract experience in the Middle East and Europe, and has acted as advisor for major international projects. Following a PhD in the design of dewatering system, Toby was a founder member and is now current chairman of the international dewatering contractor WJ Groundwater. He has particular expertise on recharge systems, in-tunnel well drilling techniques, numerical modelling of dewatering systems, design of pumping tests and groundwater remediation and treatment. He has published widely at international conferences and in journals on dewatering methods and technology and has recently co-authored CIRIA report C750, the forth coming UK design and practice guide for construction dewatering (updated from the current CIRIA publication C515). Dr Toby Roberts is a UK Chartered Civil Engineer and Chartered Geologist and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.Dr. Haimoni is currently serving as an Expert in the office of CEO, Rail Agency, RTA, Dubai. During this period he acted as a Project Director for Dubai Tram Project. Previously he served as a Deputy Director same Agency and oversaw the construction of Dubai Metro Red and Green Lines.

Before joining RTA Dr. Haimoni spent more than 20 years in the geotechnical industry in United Kingdom.
He is an AECOM Fellow in recognition for his expertise when working in ground engineering for over 40 years. Since 1975 he has been located in Hong Kong and working around South East Asia where he is well known for all aspects of geotechnical engineering.

 

His experience is broadly based. It includes involvement with more than 100 underground railway stations and associated tunnels. He has worked on many road tunnels and water tunnels with experience in Cut and Cover Method, NATM, Drill and Blast, and TBMs. His role has varied between geotechnical specialist, Project Director and Supervising Officer of tunnel projects.
He has also been engaged on slope works, foundations, and reclamations including Project Director for 980ha (2,420 acres) for the Hong Kong airport.

 

He has been an Expert Witness in several high profile cases including Arbitration for Stage 1 of the deep sewer tunnels in Hong Kong and for the Inquiry into the Collapse of the Nicoll Highway in Singapore.

 

He is Adjunct Professor at University of Hong Kong and at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a Fellow Commoner at St Catharine's College Cambridge University.

Andrew Lochaden

Dr.Lochaden holds a PhD from the University of Dublin (Trinity College), and joined Atkins in the Middle East in 2012. Most recently, he has been heavily involved in the detailed design of retaining walls, bored tunnels and cross passages for Doha Metro Gold Line. He also has experience in the design of shallow and deep foundations, and deep shafts.

His experience combines knowledge of numerical techniques such as the finite element method, and in-depth knowledge of materials. Dr. Samson is a Member of the Quebec Association of Professional Engineers and RILEM.

He is leading technically the Geotechnical and Tunnellingdesign group of Dubai office. He has 22 years of experience, working as tunnellingand geotechnical expert in major infrastructure projects, including among others: (a) Athens and Thessaloniki Metros in Greece, (b) the 700km EgnatiaMotorway in North Greece and (c) three major concession motorways in Greece of a total length 700km approximately.

From January 2012 until October 2015, Ilias established a successful co-operation with Deutsche BahnInternational by: (i) having a very active participation in the preparation of the Technical Specifications of Doha Metro Project, (ii) his involvement in the evaluation of the tender offers for the Red Line North contract of the Project, (iii) providing technical solutions and leading the design reviews of the main tunnellingand geotechnical design packages of Doha Metro Project.
