Power Stability

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department accounced the addition of two new courses to its Electrical Engineering undergraduate curriculum. Focusing on topics of prime importance in the power systems area, the courses broaden the range of electives available for electrical engineering students to choose from. The introduction of the courses was driven by the rapid changes in the power generation and transmission fields. With the increased emphasis on power efficiency and power system stability, the two courses will provide AUD students with the tools necessary to succeed in today's energy systems industry.

Dr. Majid Poshtan, Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering, championed the introduction of such courses to the AUD curriculum. Having joined AUD in Fall 2011, Dr. Poshtan is planning a series of short courses as part of a continuing education course series offered by AUD for the professional community. The courses will focus on power grid design and systems stability, and provide in-depth understanding of the current issues such as Smart Grids.
